Gabrielle Carey, Ph.D., LPC, LMFT Gabrielle Carey Ph.D. is co-owner of Hill Country Psychotherapy Associates, PLLC. She has been a licensed marriage and family therapist practicing in Texas since 1998 and is also licensed as a professional counselor. She is an approved AAMFT and LPC supervisor, providing supervision to counseling students and interns accruing their required hours. Dr. Carey favors a brief narrative approach to family therapy which focuses on individual and collective strength and resilience. She uses play and art therapy techniques, as well as talk therapy, in her work with children. Couples therapy is her specialty, especially cases involving infidelity, social adjustments, marital enhancement, and anger management. She works with individuals experiencing relationship problems, anxiety, depression, AD/HD, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder and other issues. Gabrielle Carey,
Ph.D. completed her internship at the Marriage and Family Institute of
San Antonio, and practiced there until opening Hill Country
Psychotherapy Associates. She co-authored a book, Family
Therapy with Hispanics: Toward Appreciating Diversity.
She has been married for 25 years and has two daughters. Jordana Pazin, Ph.D., LPC, NCC
Jordana Pazin, Ph.D. is co-owner of Hill Country Psychotherapy
Associates, PLLC. She has been a Nationally Certified Counselor
since April, 2000 and a Licensed Professional Counselor since June,
2001. Dr. Pazin is also an LPC approved supervisor, providing
supervision to students and interns accruing their required hours toward
licensure. She has worked in the mental health field since 1992.
Joan Terry is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Joan completed her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at St. Mary's University. Joan worked as a therapist at Jewish Family Service for eight years before entering private practice with Hill Country Psychotherapy Associates. She worked as a counselor for victims of crime for two years as part of a state grant. Her specialty is working with clients who are struggling with eating disorders using a cognitive/behavioral approach. Joan works with families, couples, and individuals using a therapeutic approach which includes solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and family systems therapy.
Michelle Gunnin has been in practice with Hill Country Psychotherapy
since the fall of 2005. She earned two graduate degrees in Marriage and
Family Counseling from the University of Florida in 2001 and is a
Licensed Professional Counselor. She is an eclectic therapist who uses a
variety of strategies to help clients reach their goals. She utilizes
Imago Therapy and Relational Empowerment approaches with couples, and
practices from a Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral approach with
individuals. She uses art therapy with children and preadolescents. Sally Day, Ph.D, LPC Sally Day, Ph.D. is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling from UTSA. Dr. Day works with individuals, couples and families of all ages (children through older adults), using therapy with cognitive behavioral and existential approaches. She strives to work within her clients' own world to assist them in achieving psychological wellbeing. Dr. Day's areas of specialty include relationship issues, self-esteem concerns, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, and GLBTQI issues. In addition, Dr. Day is a Licensed Physical Therapist which enables her to understand the connection between the physical and mental aspects of clients' concerns. For example, she counsels athletes, clients with disabilities or chronic illnesses, and clients with recent surgeries, such as Gastric Bypass and Lap-Band, to assist them in obtaining psychological health. Aside from her private practice, Dr. Day also works for the Methodist Healthcare Systems where she performs emergency room psych assessments.
Sabina Remmers de Vries is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She completed her Masters degree and doctoral degree in Counseling at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Sabina favors Alfred Adler's Individual Psychology in terms of counseling work with her clients. Sabina believes that a positive and supportive counseling relationship is essential for clients to gain new insight into themselves and increased insight into the social systems they are part of. She believes that individuals are impacted by and impact those social systems that he/she is connected to. Sabina combines psychodynamic and interpersonal process approaches with narrative, relational, and cognitive behavioral techniques to empower her clients to find new ways of being in the world. She also offers Enneagram work to those clients that express interest in this type of personality assessment. Sabina also specializes in trauma work, helping her clients work safely through traumatic life experiences. Her goal is to diminish the power traumatic experiences hold over her clients. Overcoming traumatic experiences can be achieved through developmentally focused therapy whose cornerstone is interpersonal connection, grounding, and safety. Furthermore, Sabina specializes in working with individuals with bi-polar mood disorders and schizophrenic spectrum disorders as well as domestic violence issues as they pertain to female as well as male survivors of interpersonal violence. Aside from her private practice, Sabina is also a contract counselor for Community Based Counseling, which provides counseling to survivors of domestic violence and homeless citizens. Stephanie Jackson is passionate about helping children, adolescents, adults, and families achieve and maintain a sense of emotional well being. She is trained in individual, family and group counseling techniques. Stephanie began her career in the field of education in 1996 as a special education teacher where she worked with students with a variety of academic and emotional concerns such as learning disabilities, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism, and conduct disorder. In 2002, she received her School Counseling Certification and in 2003 Stephanie received her licensure as a Specialist in School Psychology. She has successfully worked with students in the public school setting since 1996. Her Licensed Professional Counseling career began in 2005 where she treated clients with addictions, depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, divorce, and other personal and emotional issues. Stephanie's focus in private practice is to provide therapy to individuals, groups, and families in order for them to lead a more emotionally healthy lifestyle. Stephanie's primary area of focus is children 12 years and younger.
